Holland America Cruises Things To Do

Cruise Ship Prepares To Leave San Diego Without Passengers
    • The refined atmosphere of Holland America Line ships draws interest from older cruise travelers who can also afford to pay the cruise line’s higher prices. When you set sail on a HAL ship, you will enjoy a more traditional cruise experience. Therefore, guests onboard like the afternoon tea service and activities that feature ballroom dancing. However, that does not mean the cruise line does not attract families. KId-friendly programs are available online for the younger crowd, 3 to 17 years old. Nevertheless, if you are seeking a more family-friendly adventure, you may want to set your sights on a cruise provider, such as Disney or Carnival. Most families take a HAL cruise during the summer when the kids are on summer vacation from school. Older travelers, who have retired, like to take the world cruises as well as longer excursions. Cruise From Los Angeles Or San Diego

Hi everyone, we are quite keen to incorporate a short cruise, maybe up to a week, into a trip we’re planning to California/Las Vegas in September/October this year but unable to find out much information. Where’s the best place to sail from. We’re quite open to suggestions on where to go, would just like to experience a cruise. Many thanks in advance.

Check out Royal Caribbean Cruise line, Princess or Carnival who leave from the port of Los Angeles area. They have 3-4 night Mexican Riviera or 7 night Mexican cruises. Some include stops to San Diego and Catalina Island, CA, etc.

RCI has here now in LA, which is a fantastic ship. Put in some dates to find a price. Looks like cruises start under $500.

One correction- the 3 and 4 day cruises stop in Ensenada, about 100km south of San Diego. The 7 day cruises are the “Mexican Riviera”cruises that go to Acapulco, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, etc.

Ensenada is not a “Riviera” by any stretch of the imagination. It’s where much of the Mexican crime and violence you’ve heard about is taking place, and our State Dept advises against traveling there. But you’re fine if you stay around the dock area, are on a large organized tour, or just stay on the ship. I would not venture into the city or countryside on your own.

Hmmm? We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise from San Diego for 7days so didn’t know you had to go from LA now? Anyway, I’d say go from whichever city you choose to visit or gives you the best itinerary/for the best price etc.

    San Diego Cruise Terminal

Save on Disney Cruises from San Diego

San Diego cruise terminal is very close to downtown, being located at B Street Pier . The Airport is just 5 mi from the cruise port.

The âfirst green buildingâ or the Port Pavilion at Broadway Pier also has a terminal.

It is used if more than 4 vessels are in port or if the “B Street” Terminal is not operational .

Both San Diego cruise port terminals offer a wide range of passenger-use facilities. Parking fees are USD 10â20 daily .

B Street Pier has 5x wharves. Wharf 1 and Wharf 2 are on the north side, Wharf 3 is on the west and Wharf 4 and Wharf 5 are on the south side. Wharves 1, 2, 4 and 5 can accommodate bigger cruise liners. Smaller vessels dock at Wharf 3. In October 2017, at B Street Cruise Terminal was installed a new passenger boarding bridge.

What Is The Cheapest Month To Go On A Cruise

Unlike Caribbean cruises, San Diego is mostly a seasonal cruise port and highly dependent on ships that sail in Alaska during the summer spending time in San Diego during the winter as well as Fall and Spring cruises when the ships transition from summer to winter cruising destinations.

Additionally, because of this, most cruises from San Diego are seven days or longer.

Based on our expert advice though, you can still find a cheap cruise from San Diego. Repositioning cruises offer great value if you are willing to fly home, instead of having the cruise ship return to San Diego.

These cruises aren’t your typical experience and have fewer port visits than other options but if you are looking to cruise from San Diego to Vancouver for cheap then this is a great option. Prices for these repositioning cruises will generally be $100 or less per day based on double occupancy, not counting port expenses, taxes, and other fees.

This would ultimately make March and April the cheapest months to take a cruise vacation from San Diego.
