Carnival Miracle To Sail To Hawaii On January 9
Carnival Miracle will be the first cruise ship in the fleet to call in Hawaii since the worldwide operational pause in March of 2020. The ship will sail from Long Beach, California, on January 9, for a 14-day cruise to the islands.
Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald shared the news on his Facebook page: So lets start with the good news, make that brilliant news that our Carnival Miracle Hawaii cruise is a go and in just three days Carnival Miracle will be sailing to the islands and I know how many people are so excited to be on this voyage. I must though thank the beards who have been in constant discussion with the Hawaiian authorities to make sure this cruise happened.
Carnival Miracle will spend four days at sea and arrive in Honolulu on Oahu Island on January 14. From there, calls are scheduled to Kahului on Maui, and Kailua-Kona and Hilo on Hawaii Island. After another few relaxing days at sea, guests will have a day in Ensenada, Mexico, before returning to Long Beach. The voyage only received permission from the Hawaiian authorities this week, when necessary port agreements were signed.
The announcement that Carnival Miracle will sail will be welcome news for guests booked on the voyage. A previous cruise, scheduled for departure on December 3, did not sail as the Hawaiian authorities were not ready to receive cruise ships at that time.

Hawaii Cruises Resumed In January
I was aboard the first Holland America ship to return to Hawaii since November 2019. Other cruise lines, including Carnival and Princess, also resumed Hawaii sailings in January.
The cruise, heavy on sea days, started and ended in San Diego. After a stop in Catalina Island 22 miles west of mainland California we were at sea five days before reaching Honolulu on the island of Oahu. We also visited Maui and spent three days exploring Hawaiis Big Island so named because its larger than all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined.
We were anchored for two days off the coast of Kailua-Kona on the Big Islands relatively dry western side, home of most of the islands resorts.
In Kona, we toured coffee plantations and hiked through a cloud forest on the slopes of the Huallai Volcano, 3,000 feet above sea level. We also visited the Puuhonua o Hnaunau National Historical Park, where ruling chiefs would grant absolution to Hawaiian lawbreakers and vanquished warriors.
On our final day in Hawaii, the Koningsdam was docked on the more tropical eastern side of the island in Hilo, a gateway to picturesque waterfalls and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
Hilo is the rainiest city in the United States, averaging 211 days of precipitation each year. Fortunately, we had sunny skies, ideal for viewing the snow-capped Mauna Kea volcano. Its peak is 13,803 feet above sea level, making it the highest point in the state.

How Long Is A Cruise To Hawaii
Hawaii cruises range from seven nights to 18 nights or longer, depending on the itinerary. A cruise only within the Hawaiian Islands sailing round trip Honolulu is the shortest seven night option, while any cruise from California to Hawaii will take at least 15 nights due to the islands remote location. Round trip sailings are available from Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego, but be prepared to spend at least eight days of that cruise at sea getting to and from Hawaii. Choose your ship wisely as youll be spending a lot of time on it!
Many ships alternate between Hawaii or Polynesia in the Winter and Alaska in the Summer so youll often find repositioning cruises to and from Hawaii in May and September as ships make their way across the Pacific. 10-night cruises from Vancouver, BC to Hawaii are a common repositioning itinerary.

Hawaii Travel Update: Cruise Ships To Return To Honolulu In January
The “Celebrity Solstice” makes a port call in Honolulu Harbor. Cruise ships are scheduled to return … to Hawaii in January for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
A cruise ship hasnt docked in Hawaii since the beginning of the pandemic, but if all goes according to plan, ships will kick off their long-awaited return next month.
In January, five cruise ships are scheduled to make port at Honolulu harbor, bringing more than 8,000 passengers to the island of Oahu.
All along, people pictured that this would be something to celebrate, a sign that the tourism industry – and the global situation – had crawled its way back to normalcy.
But medical experts interviewed by Hawaii News Now said the timing couldnt be worse, with the Omicron variant spreading rapidly and case counts rising.
While the Hawaii government has not reinstated any travel restrictions, it did issue strong recommendations and warnings against large gatherings.
At this stage, there is absolutely no way we should be considering having cruise ships stopping in Honolulu or any of our neighbor islands, one doctor told the outlet.
Still, some in the travel industry are trying to make the case that its safer to have passengers arrive via cruise ship than by plane.
