Will Cruises Resume In 2021

Cunard Line: October 2021

Holland America to resume Seattle to Alaska cruises July 2021

Select Cunard Line cruises for United Kingdom residents are scheduled to restart in August, but international sailings likely won’t resume until at least October 2021. On Cunard sailings, travelers can expect policies like pre-boarding COVID-19 testing and screenings, upgraded cleaning efforts in public areas and guest rooms, hand-sanitizer stations dispersed throughout each ship, improved air filtration on board, and up-to-date guidelines on face masks and social distancing. At this time, Cunard Line cannot welcome guests with certain medical conditions such as those requiring dialysis or supplementary oxygen or who have been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19 within 14 days of embarkation. Several previously scheduled voyages between October 2021 and April 2022 have been canceled and will be rescheduled with new itineraries. See Cunard’s website for more information.

Norwegian To Resume Cruises In With Covid Vaccine Required

Norwegian, which announced a vaccine requirement for all passengers and crew on all of its ships in April, expressed its commitment to safety and to working with the CDC when ticket sales were announced.

“We remain optimistic that by working with the CDC and local port and government authorities in the destinations we visit that we will be able to resume safe cruising in the U.S. this summer,” a Norwegian Cruise Line spokesperson said to Alaska’s News Source on Tuesday.

Tickets are on sale for Alaska itineraries on the company’s Norwegian Bliss ship starting Aug. 7 through the end of the season sailing from Seattle, according to a news release shared Monday. The statement from the cruise line did not specify what the end of the season would be. In the past, ships have visited southeast Alaska into September.

Royal Caribbean International: Cruising As Of July 2 2021

Royal Caribbean International embarked on its first voyage since the pandemic in early July 2021, out of Miami. Royal Caribbean’s recently updated vaccination guidelines state that ships leaving out of ports in Florida and Texas will not require proof of vaccination, while sailings departing from Seattle and the Bahamas will. Guests will be tested for COVID-19 prior to boarding, and other safety protocols must be followed. Visit Royal Caribbean’s website for its full list of updates.

Aida Cruises To Resume Operation March 20th

German cruise line AIDA announced today that they plan to resume cruise operations beginning March 20, 2021 on board their ship AIDAperla. The first sailing will visit Spains Canary Islands off the coast of Northern Africa. The decision comes in part because of the German federal governments lockdown to contain the pandemic ending in March 2021.

Its been a strange few months for AIDA who restarted operation over the summer only to have travel restrictions in their home country make cruising an impossibility. The cruise line announced in January their intention to resume cruising the Canary Islands season as of March 6, 2021, but theyve now pushed that date back to the 20th of March.

The Spanish government established rules for safe travel in the Canaries in November, which are in line with AIDAs already established hygiene and prevention measures. AIDAs health and safety protocols, which have been audited by SGS Institute Fresenius and confirmed by the classification society DNV-GL, among others, include measures such as the free COVID 19 test before the voyage, secure arrival and departure, medical care, distance regulations and increased disinfection measures on board, as well as guided shore excursions.

As for everywhere else they sail, cruisers will have to be patient. The Canary Islands will be the only operating itinerary when the company resumes operation.

When Will Cruise Lines Start Sailing Again

By Ruby Norris | 16 Mar 2021

With lockdown measures persisting in the UK and the rest of the world, more cruise lines are pushing their sailing dates back even further, with May 2021 looking like the start of a new sailing season. Keep checking back here to find out when your favourite cruise lines will start sailing again.

While our primary concern is ensuring the safety and well-being of all our readers, wed be lying if we said we werent itching to get back out on the high seas.

In recent weeks, as efforts the world over are in place to further prevent the spread of Covid-19, a number of travel companies and cruise lines have extended their sailing suspensions.

While some regions and countries were given the green light for river cruises, new quarantine restrictions and some international travel bans on ocean cruises still remain.

The CDC recently dropped its No Sail order in favour of a Conditional Framework with a phased return to cruise travel in America. However, as January 2021 saw the arrival of a third lockdown here in the UK, there is still much uncertainty around international travel.

Many cruise companies have now extend their sailing suspensions once more and a number have announced that usual business will not resume until May 2021.

Princess Cruises: Resume Sailing July 25

Princess has been the cruise line perhaps most impacted by the crisis. At least two of its ships had virus outbreaks in the early days of the crisis, leading to headlines around the world.

It also made the news by being the first major cruise line to announce a voluntary suspension of cruising, which was quickly followed by other lines. Princess originally announced it would stop all cruises from March 12 through May 10, 2020. Of course, that’s now been extended multiple times.

Princess paused operations through most of July, but now plans to sail from Alaska, departing Seattle starting July 25 aboard Majestic Princess — 500 days after stopping sailing in 2020.

When Will Cruises From The Us Resume In 2021

The most common questions that our Cruise Fever staff receive is When will cruises resume? and How soon can I board a cruise ship to the Caribbean?.

The last cruise ships to leave from the U.S. with paying passengers departed on March 13, 2020. I was on the last ship to leave Miami that day, Navigator of the Seas, on a three night trip to the Bahamas. I could have never imagined that it would be the last ship to leave Miami for over a year.

Cruise lines currently have all cruises from the U.S. canceled through the end of April 2021. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has canceled cruises through the end of May on their three cruise lines. I expect all cruise lines to cancel May cruises in the coming weeks.

So when will cruises finally resume?

Ill be honest, no one knows and anyone who tells you differently is just making it up.

Arnold Donald, CEO of Carnival Corporation, during a Fireside talk with the president of Travel Leaders Group said that hes optimistic that most, if not all of their cruise lines will be able to resume by the end of the year.

Donald, as well as the other cruise line CEOs, have never given any dates on when they will resume sailings. They are taking it month by month, canceling one to two months of cruises at a time.

Cruise lines will not be able to resume cruises until they are cleared by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .

Viking Ocean Cruises: Cruising As Of June 15 2021

After a handful of voyages for U.K. residents embarked in late May, Viking Ocean Cruises restarted sailings through Bermuda and Iceland in June 2021 for fully vaccinated travelers. Guests will be tested for COVID-19 daily using PCR tests, and new air purification technology has been implemented on all ships. The line encourages face masks and social distancing measures, and public surfaces will be frequently disinfected. Although Viking will not require cruisers to get tested independently prior to their trip, it is highly recommended especially for those experiencing symptoms. Should a traveler test positive during the voyage, Viking will isolate them on board, then disembark them from the ship and arrange lodging in the nearest port until it is safe for the cruiser to fly home. For Viking’s full health plan, check its website.

Norwegian Cruise Line: Resume Sailing August 7

As of March 2020, Norwegian made the call to suspend voyages across their fleet worldwide. The plan was for the ships to resume sailing in April 2020, but the suspension was lengthened multiple times. It’s now been extended through July 2021 for the U.S., with cruises returning in August.

According to the NCL, the first cruise scheduled from the United States is a trip from Seattle to Alaska on August 7.

Notably, there is some question if that cruise will sail from Florida, where trips are scheduled starting August 15. Norwegian has been firm that it wants to sail with 100% of passengers vaccinated. However, Florida law says businesses can’t require proof of vaccination from customers.

This has led to tension between the state and the cruise line. Recently, the cruise line’s parent company filed suit to be able to sail fully vaccinated from the state. It’s not clear what will come of the suit or NCL’s restart plans given the desire to sail fully vaccinated from Florida.
