What Is The Cheapest Month To Cruise The Caribbean

Cheapest Time To Cruise Alaska

What is the cheapest month to go on a cruise?

Alaska has an abridged season from April/May to September/October, with June to August being the busiest months. Early in the season and at the seasons end can offer significant savings.

May offers drier weather with only a 25% chance of rain on any given day. By August, the chances of rain rise to over 50%.

If you sail early in the season, itineraries can change if ice blocks channels to Tracy Arm or Endicott Arm. Should you cruise in the last few weeks, some seasonal shops will have closed for the winter.

Also, bear in mind that May and September offer the coldest temperatures.

An Alaska cruise is a popular itinerary in the cruise industry. Although cruise lines have increased the number of ships sailing to Alaska, the prices have climbed significantly. While I have cruised a 7-day itinerary for a mere USD 349, deals like this are hard to find now.

The only way to get cruise deals like this is by booking last minute and usually early in the season. Having taken two May cruises with Royal Caribbean and Holland America Line, not only did I save money, but I enjoyed fewer crowds and mountains still frosted with snow.

If embarking in Vancouver, Canada, one-way cruises to and from Whittier and Seward cost less than roundtrip itineraries. Youll need to factor in the airfare to compare the savings.

My Favorite Time To Book Caribbean Cruises

I love booking cruises in September because its typically still warm and you can find rock bottom deals. Even though there is the threat of cruising during hurricane season, if you are flexible you will be fine. Your ship may have to change its itinerary because of an incoming storm, but pack your sense of adventure and you will still be glad you got such a great deal.

What Are The Least Expensive Months To Sail

If you want to sail for cheap, then we suggest looking at months like January, February, April, May, September and October. We find that rates during these months tend to be less expensive than for the same cruise if headed to the Caribbean. During these times fewer people are traveling, leading to generally lower cruise fare.

If headed to Alaska, then the months are more limited. The season runs largely from May through September. In this case the shoulder months of May and September offer the lowest prices.

When Not To Cruise

When looking to book a cruise vacation, consider the pros and cons of booking the best time versus booking an off-season cruise deal. While there are no bad times of the year to cruise, you might want to think twice about sailing in hurricane season.

The shoulder season also offers cooler weather so consider choosing a cruise ship with an indoor pool and plenty of onboard activities.

If youre budgeting for a cruise, there are times when it is not advisable to cruise. These include Christmas and New Year cruises which come with sticker shock. However, sailing immediately after New Years can offer bargain prices.

Inaugural cruises on brand new ships also come with high prices, so its best to book on them when they are no longer the new kid on the block.

Worst Time To Visit The Caribbean

Cool Best Time To Visit Eastern Caribbean References ...

If there is a worst time to visit the Caribbean, it would be from May through November, when there is more rainfall than other times of the year and a chance for hurricanes. . These two months are also the hottest, and when many hotels close.

This timeframe will fluctuate depending on the island location. Southern Caribbean islands, like Barbados, Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago, and Curacao rarely see hurricanes. So, while these months are considered the worst times to visit because of the hurricane potential, chances of experiencing one are extremely unlikely.

The low season months are also considered the worst time to visit because there may be limited opportunities for island experiences. Many hotels and resorts limit their staffing during the low tourist season, which means some restaurants may be closed and some tourist sites may have restricted hours.

Fall Cruises To The Caribbean

Hurricane season takes off in September and lasts until early November. If youre looking for a great special offer on a cruise, look for cruises during this time period.

The ABC islands are popular destinations with cruise vacationers during the fall, especially during the later part of hurricane season, since theyre outside of the Caribbean hurricane zone.

If you dont mind a little bit of unpredictability and tropical rain, the early fall season is also one of the best times to visit the rest of the Caribbean because of the cooler but still warm weather, small crowds, and low fares.

Come prepared with a waterproof jacket, in case you do encounter some showers, and dont forget to pack anti-nausea aids or medication to prevent seasickness in case the weather makes sailing choppier than usual.

The best time of year to book a cruise is often January through March. During this period also known as wave season industry-wide sales occur and the price of that cruise youve been dreaming of may drop significantly.

Best Time To Cruise Australia: November

The best time to cruise Australia is from late November to March, when late spring crests into Australia’s summer months. Major ports of call like Sydney, Adelaide and Perth will be quite warm and sunny, while Cairns in the northeast — the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef — will be steamy and hot.

Related:

However, November through March in Australia is also typhoon season, which may affect some ports of call and lead to some rough waters. Aussies generally vacation between late December and January, so expect big crowds and jammed ports during that time.

While Australia’s weather varies, winter temperatures between June and early September are rarely as extreme in North America. If you’re after a cheap Australia cruise, this is the time to go. Crowds are fewer, and there are bargains to be had, especially on larger ships and Great Barrier Reef cruises that are available year-round.

The downside to Australian winter cruises? Expedition cruises and sailings to Tasmania are often limited during the rainier months of June, July and August

Book Early For Cheaper Cruise Fares

Ultimate World Cruise takes 9 months to complete

You should plan and book a Disney cruise as early as possible for several reasons.

First, youll get the best price when you book early. Unless you luck out on a last-minute deal, Disney cruise prices are cheapest the day they go on sale and increase in costs as the ship fills up.

Secondly, youll have the best selection of cabin types. If you wait too long, you may only have a few options, and they may not be the ideal stateroom for you and your family. Higher-priced stateroom categories may be the only choices remaining because staterooms with the lowest prices sold out earlier.

Finally, booking your cruise a year in advance gives you more time to plan your trip and ensure everything is in order before leaving. By doing this, you can avoid any last-minute surprises or changes. It also gives you more time to pay down your trip if you have set up a payment plan with your travel agency.

So dont wait book your Disney cruise today!

Which Cruise Lines Are All Inclusive

Pricey luxury cruise lines such as Seabourn, Crystal, Regent, Sliversea are all inclusive but Oceania, Celebrity, Norwegian and MSC offer drink packages in some promotional fares to make them all inclusive, meaning, you can have all meals and basic bar in one fare. Gratuities are typically extra for all but the luxury lines.

How Long Are Cruises

Another huge variable in your cost calculations is the duration of your voyage. Obviously, the longer the cruise, the more you pay. The food and fuel which power a ship are not free, and the crewmembers also have to be paid. For each port of call that a vessel stops at, the line must pay port fees which are then passed on to the passengers. Regardless of how much time and money you have in your vacation budget, there is a cruise for you.

Most sailings are for a week or two. To me, a five night cruise seems kind of shortwhile 14 nights is definitely on the long side. The most popular cruise packages are for seven to ten nights, which fits nicely into a two-week vacation window.

Looking for the trip of a lifetime? Three-week sailings or even longer can be had to rare and exotic destinations like the Arctic Ocean and Antarctica. You can sail across the Atlantic Ocean and cruise around Europe. There are around-the-world trips which last for months and cost in the five or six figures. There are even a few cruise ships where you can buy a condominium and live aboard permanently, never getting off the ship!

Looking for a long weekend? Sailings of two or three nights with maybe one port of call are common in the Caribbean, and can cost only a few hundred bucks per person.

Cheapest Time To Cruise To Mexico

While you can sail to Mexico year-round, the summer months are too hot for enjoyment. The cheapest time of year to cruise to Mexico is October to January, except for holiday cruises. I had sailed in both September and February when it was still hot but comfortable.

There are two options for sailing to Mexico the Caribbean side and the Pacific side, also known as the Mexican Riviera. The Caribbean offers many more itineraries and cruise ships so you may find more deals there.

On the Pacific side, short 3-day cruises can be very cheap, but the cruise ship can only travel as far as Ensenada. Only select cruise lines offer Mexican Riviera cruises. They include Carnival, Celebrity, Norwegian, and Princess Cruises.

While the Disney cruise offers sampler cruises , their shortened itineraries arent notably budget-friendly.

Where Should You Stay On A Ship To Avoid Seasickness

The date range of your cruise will have more impact on seasickness than the placement of your cabin. Mid ship lower decks experiences less rolling but in calm seas this is practically irrelevant. Some itineraries traverse open seas more than others, and certain times of year are more likely to have better weather. Taking A Cruise In January

Pros: One of the biggest advantages of cruising in January is price. During this time of year school is in session and many people are back at work after a holiday break. That means its difficult for many to cruise. Cruise lines typically have discounted rates to fill up the ship in January the same cruise departing at the height of the busy summer can be hundreds more than in January.

As well, when winter has gripped most of North America, the Caribbean still offers a warm getaway with lots of sunshine. Its a welcome change from the snow and cold see in most areas.

Cons: If you are a family, it might be tough for you to take a January cruise. It will usually mean the kids have to skip a few days of school to take the trip. In addition, if you have to fly in for your cruise, there are chances of winter weather causing delays to your schedule. Youll want to make sure you plan your flight to arrive the day before your cruise, just in case.

    Be Flexible With Stateroom Options

    Inside Stateroom

In addition to being flexible about sail dates, keep an open mind regarding the kind of staterooms and destinations youll find when booking a cruise at the last minute.

Certain itineraries have coveted staterooms that sell out months in advance. For example, veranda staterooms on Alaska cruises sell out quickly since everyone wants to see wildlife and glaciers from the comfort of their room during their trip.

If youre more concerned about how to find last-minute cruise deals than having a particular stateroom, then a discounted cruise deal is a good fit for you.

What Is The Best Month To Cruise The Caribbean

You can sail to the Caribbean year-round, from January to December. Cruises from Florida to the Caribbean depart from Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tampa, or you can sail from San Juan, Puerto Rico.

If youre looking for optimum weather and reduced fares, one of the best months to cruise to the Caribbean is May, the beginning of shoulder season. Shoulder season is that time just before and just after peak or high season, from December to April.

During this time, you can find some terrific offers on longer Caribbean cruises of 10 to 12 days to the Southern Caribbean and for shorter cruises of 5 to 7 days to the Bahamas or Mexico as peak season has just ended and the summer vacation travel rush hasnt kicked in yet.

One reason May is one of the best times to visit the Caribbean on a cruise is that the weather is still near perfect, particularly in the Southern Caribbean islands, with lots of sunny days and balmy evenings perfect for a sunset catamaran cruise or a moonlit stroll on a ships deck.

May weather on Mexicos east coast, where the island of Cozumel sits, is also still hot and dry with temperatures in the 80s and over 11 hours of sunlight daily. Sunbathe on pristine white-sand beaches or get active with watersports like jet skiing and parasailing over the beautiful blue Caribbean Sea.
