Where do river cruise ships dock in Paris? There are two ports on the Seine River in Paris at which they can dock. If you have already taken a river cruise to or from Paris, then you are probably somewhat familiar with the location of the two ports. And if you have not, you may be wondering where youll board your ship.
Not to worry, though, because this information will be included in your travel documents. If you have not yet booked your cruise on the Seine River, you may be curious to know which port river cruise companies use for docking in Paris.

The two ports are located in Quai André Citroën and Quai de Grenelle in the 15th Arrondissement in Paris. Both are located on the left bank of the Seine River and are about 1.4 miles apart from each other. The Eiffel Tower is located 0.6 miles from Port Quai de Grenelle and 2 miles from Port de Javel Bas in Quai André Citroën.
With regard to boarding, some river cruise companies provide the information on their websites. Others will provide it only in the travel documents. Most companies will provide this information to guests prior to their departures. Only Avalon Waterways states that it cannot know the docking position in Paris in advance. Since this information is subject to change, its always best to read your travel documents or check with the river cruise company after you book your Seine River cruise to to verify the docking location of your cruise ship. Your package may include transportation to the river cruise port. If not, you can arrange your own transfer to the docking location, which is where you will embark and your river cruise will begin.
Passenger Shipping Pause 2020
Due to the Coronavirus crisis, Viking Cruises suspended passenger shipping operations fleetwide by canceling all voyages with pre-scheduled departures in the period March 12, 2020, through July 2021. Fleetwide operations were planned to resume on October 1, 2020. However, due to ongoing travel restrictions in Europe and the USA, as well as Canada’s and Australia’s ban on cruise shipping, Viking canceled the entire 2020 program in mid-August.
- VIKING OCEAN restarted operations on May 22, 2021, with Viking Venus .
- VIKING RIVER restarted in July 2021 , VIKING’s Egypt boats – in August.
- In March-April 2021, Viking OCEAN announced plans to restart operations with Viking Venus , Viking Orion and Viking Sky . All these voyages were open for booking to UK residents only. In May were added July-October departures for the ships Viking Sea and Viking Venus.
All affected bookings received a 125% refund in FCC with rebooking or 100% monetary refund. Fully refunded were also all prepurchased through Viking packages and services. The FCC is valid for 24 months , for any Viking cruise itinerary and fully transferable.
All bookings made by April 30, 2020, received Risk-Free Guarantee that allows penalty-free cruise cancellation up to 24 hours prior departure.

In 2015, we traveled 820 miles down the Rhine River on an eight-day Viking River Cruise from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Basel, Switzerland. It was one of the best trips weve ever takenand we dont say that lightly, having logged more than 2 million flight miles across the world! The experience was simply outstanding, from start to finish. We enjoyed delicious, exceedingly fresh food fine wines tailored itineraries breathtaking scenery excellent customer service and modern, clean rooms. Dr. Gary Raymond, a friend who took the identical Viking riverboat cruise weeks before, echoed his satisfaction with the trip, commenting that out of 18 cruises he has been on, this was one of the best! He noted, Everyone from the captain down was open to taking care of any problem you could come up with.
Viking is one of several major cruise lines, including AmaWaterways, Uniworld, Avalon Waterways, and Tauck, to run river cruises in a variety of countries. Taking a Viking cruise is a very different experience than being on one of the large cruise ships, however. Having only 190 passengers on board promoted a unique and relaxing atmosphere. Today we left Lyon on a bus tour that started with learning and tasting wine in the Beaujolais region. After wine, we had a feast of truffle flavored delights followed by a truffle hunt with an adorable dog. We finished off the day learning about goat cheese making, and we brought home salted caramel sauce.
