Rci Cruise Cancellation Policy

15 things you wont regret buying on a Royal Caribbean cruise!

Starting April 18, 2018, Royal Caribbean passengers who want to cancel an upcoming cruise without penalty have to do so farther out from the departure date than before. The new RCI cruise cancellation policy simplifies the penalty fee schedule by reducing the number of itinerary categories from 5 to 2: those of 1 to 4 nights and those 5 nights or longer.

The previous time when RCI updated its cancellation policy was on March 7, 2016.

Do You Have Onboard Credit

If you receive onboard credit from Royal Caribbean as part of your cruise purchase, it will be in your Royal Caribbean Cruise Planner almost immediately. However, we also utilize the Royal Caribbean Visa and redeem points before each cruise for the onboard credit. This credit now appears in the cruise planner but only about 14-30 days out from your sail date. As you can see in the image below, your onboard credit shows at the top of the page near the cart. If you have credit, it will ask you if you would like to utilize it towards any item you add to your cart.

Because Im so eager to plan, by the time this credit hits our planner, I have already booked our entertainment and purchased our drink packages. I use this Visa credit to book a specialty dining package and our internet package. My husband needs to be accessible because hes a business owner, and I need to keep all of you updated!

You can also pre-book excursions, purchase photo packages, trips to the spa, etc. You can plan almost anything in Royal Caribbean Cruise Plannerexcept reserve pool deck chairs. Darn it!

Heads Up You will need to check-out and pay for these purchases. Making purchases in the Cruise Planner does not go onto your onboard account for you to pay at the end of your cruise. You will get an email confirmation of your purchase. You can print that email and take it with you or print out your purchase history and take it with youjust in case.

Lifeguards On Rci Ships

Since 2017, all RCI ships have onboard licensed lifeguards by the line’s “water safety program”, implemented fleetwide. By the new program, water safety signs are placed throughout the ship.

Ship’s lifeguards are dressed in special uniforms and stationed at every swimming pool, including the Solarium during the complex’s opening hours. All Royal Caribbean lifeguards are trained through the RCI’s partnership with StarGuard Elite .

  • The water safety program includes a 15-min presentation . The instruction is for by both kids and parents and held during Adventure Ocean’s open-house session.
  • Swim vests for all kids are readily available. Additional signage is added around swimming pool areas and in all cabins to encourage parents to use them.
  • Kids under 12 require a parent or guardian to be present when swimming in any of the cruise ship’s pools.

RCI’s water safety program was rolled out fleetwide in 2017 . Next are listed all RCI boats and the itinerary dates when each implemented the new lifeguard service.

The news made RCI the 2nd major cruise company with shipboard lifeguards – following DCL-Disney and followed by NCL-Norwegian starting with NCL’s 4 largest vessels and employing onboard lifeguards fleetwide by 2018.

Shipboard poolside activities vary, but some of the common ones include watching movies , playing bingo, hosting fun competitions, games, classes .

Does It Pay To Plan Ahead Or Should I Wait Until The Last Minute

Its an age-old question does the early bird really get the worm, or are there perks to taking a wait-and-see approach? If youre booking a cruise vacation, youll find there are benefits to both strategies. Planning ahead is a great way to score big savings, as Royal Caribbean often runs early saver deals to guests booking well in advance. Its also pretty safe to assume prices usually go up as availability goes down the closer you get to your sail date, so booking ahead is a surefire way to lock in a great rate. That said, booking a cruise at the last minute can also yield some unexpected savings but only if the itinerary youre interested in hasnt sold out yet.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line Secrets:

What I Wish I’d Known Before I Went On A Royal Caribbean Cruise

1. Complete online check-in

Check-in online for your cruise before you sail. Royal Caribbean requires you to check-in no later than 3 days prior to sailing. This helps keep the line moving on embarkation day.

You can also sign any waivers such as for the FlowRider and Zip Line up to three days prior to the sail date. Get all of the paperwork out of the way, so you can relax once you board.

2. Purchase shore excursions in advance

You can purchase shore excursions online prior to your cruise. Popular excursions sell out early and you dont want to be disappointed! If you didnt book your spot, a limited amount of excursions are still reserved for on board booking so schedule those as soon as you board the ship.

See my 5 tips for selecting shore excursions for help determining which excursions are right for you.

3. Reserve specialty dining in advance

Reserve your table at one of the many specialty restaurants before you sail. If you purchase the 3 dining package in advance, you can save up to 40%. There is also a B1G1 dining option valid for Days #1 & #2. Please note these offers can vary by cruise.

A newer feature is that kids can dine at the specialty restaurants for just $10 and order off a special menu. The special kids price will be adjusted and shown on your final bill.

If you prefer to wait until you board, book on the first day. You can ask to see the main dining room menus for the week then pick your day to dine in a specialty restaurant accordingly.

4. Arrive early
